For the past 2 months, I've been having my own office. Before all the green monsters come out, I need to qualify that it's temporary.
I've been caretaking the Property section under my director's recently expanded sphere of influence until the new manager can come in. Come a week's time, I'll be relinquishing this office to him while I scurry back to my shared office where I've to fight tooth and nails to use the shared computer for even just a minute.
This little arrangement has also caused a slight delay in my job search, but hey, my temporary office is bigger than my director's! Can't complain about that.
Recently, a colleague from another department came looking for my assistance. I wasn't in the office but had kept the door wide open, as always.
Later, I received an email from her with her request and a kind warning to keep my door close when not around, in case something gets stolen.
Come on, with the most valuable thing (me) out of the office, what else is worth stealing?
I had to make a lengthy explanation to her regarding my practise of open door policy. After all, if I had closed my door, when I return, I've to pull out my keycard, slot it in and out of the lock, keep my keycard, pull down the handle, push open the door ... wah ... just thinking about it makes me tired already.
After all, all great managers practice open door policy, which is what I'm doing. I don't waste time doing irrelevant and troublesome stuff like opening doors when I can use that precious minute to do more important things. Like picking my nose.

Silent Facade Redux
Silent Facade has been silent for a long time.
Why? Same old reason - too bored but too lazy to use my mind, especially after working for an entire week. I have to finally admit that after 3 years working at the hotel, I'm officially certified to have dumbed down and lost 90% of my humor. The remaining 10% is left for irritating the hell out of my colleagues and friends with verbal hemorrhage of lame jokes and senseless expressions.
Well, guess I need to make a big effort to keep this blog going like the Energizer bunny, else it'll turn up as rabbit stew again. And guess what? I'm thinking of starting ANOTHER blog!
Ya, shoot me.
I'm not kidding about it. This blog will be targetted at looking at places in Singapore. Where did I get this sudden impulse to start such blog? From my bank account.
The figures inside are not exactly awe inspiring and with only 1 long trip early this year, I have no doubt that I'm going to fall short of hitting my 2 short 1 long vacations target. So when I looked at my bank statement, all the cheapo light bulbs in my mind started lighting up.
Hey! I can still travel. I'll just be a backyard tourist! I can take leave every week and go 'travelling'. Yup, that's what I'm going to do.
Of course, I must do my research first. That takes time. Then I need to prep my cameras. That takes some more time. And finally I need to psyche myself up, which will take even more time. But hey, at least I've started the thinking phase.
